In 1971, TGI owner bought its first 200 hectares land and began planting Sonokeling rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) in Central
Java, Indonesia.
In addition to farming Sonokeling, we have planted seven other exotic species including
endangered native trees such as Indonesian teak, borneo rosewood, borneo ironwood, merbau, bangkirai, macassar ebony, narra and some species of padauk woods. Today, our various
plantations protect more than 30,000
hectares
of primary and secondary forest in
Indonesia. TGI
has seen the impact of logging in the rainforest and the widespread harm that
it produces. This is why TGI has
strong principles and deeply concern
with the reforestation
programs and
socio-environmental responsibilities. We were green before it was trendy!
